Early January and the days are getting longer, but most of the time it’s still pretty early in the afternoon when it gets dark outside. So having nice lighting around creates a good atmosphere. Most of the time when looking for a new lamp we’re going to buy one. But here at upcycleDZINE I’m more and more focussing on ‘doing it yourself’, DIY.
So here is a lamp, chandelier, that you can make yourself. The original design is by Re:Design Technologies, Merrit | BC, Canada. Re:Design Technologies is dedicated to redesigning the home environment to minimize human impact on our natural environment.
The Paper Clip Chandelier Line consists of six fundamental designs, custom manufactured to compliment both architecture and lifestyle. Each piece consists of 500 – 2,000+ individual paper clips interwoven to deconstructed steel lampshade structures. The steel used is from collected vintage and otherwise used lamp shades. The acrylic, fabric, glue and dusty bits are striptped away to reveal the stainless steel framework underneath.
