Livresse: favorite book lamp by BorisLab – upcycleDZINE
This post is for people who love books and like upcycle design. A combination that has been shown on upcycleDZINE before. Lots of people like the cover of a book, it’s the first thing you notice when you see a book. A cover can be intriguing and convincing. Of course we know the famous expression ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’. Although looking at a cover can give you a certain idea and feeling about a book. But the content of a book is what a book is all about.
The last post that featured upcycle design using a book was BOOKLAMP by Tessa Kuyvenhoven. A design that shows a great way of upcycling a book without cutting it up or removing the cover.

Show off your favorite book

And yesterday I came across another amazing upcycle design lighting piece that lets you show off your favorite book without destroying it. The lamp is called ‘Livresse‘ and is designed by BorisLab, based in Fribourg, Switzerland.

Founder Boris Dennler designed a wall lamp that is quite simple and fun and creates a beautiful friendly glow. “USE YOUR FAVORITE BOOK LIKE LAMPSHADE! Have you ever passionately loved a book? Has it made you dream, laugh, cry or taught you something special? In other words, has it somehow lit you up deep inside? Livresse suggests you bring this book out of hiding into the light. It is to become a lamp. Light up your interior for real. This lamp is very ecological because its main part is your own book!”

Boris graduated as a precision mechanic and a decorator, and travelled through Asia during one year. On his return to Switzerland, he was shocked by the abundance and the waste of objects that seemed doomed to obsolescence. That triggered him to start creating objects from discarded items, just like his Heater furniture series. He’s willingly iconoclastic, constantly working to redefine the status of an object and its form, not hesitating to oppose the appearance of a piece of furniture to its specific function.

Livresse comes in a nice fake-book packaging and included are a small structure to display your favorite book, transparent cable and switch. So choose your favorite book and let it spread a beautiful light.
