If you’re a person who likes to create things, you’re probably familiar with DIY projects. It is so rewarding to look at something that was made by yourself. Good thing about DIYs is that most of the time you don’t have to be a craftsman. The tutorial that comes along with a project like that is usually as easy as an Ikea instruction manual. That is if you think those are easy!
Even better than a regular DIY project is one where you can upcycle objects. And because upcycleDZINE is all about upcycling, all DIYs on this blog are showing how to create your own upcycle piece. Whether a clock, ottoman or lamp, it’s here for you.
How to cr(e)ate your own industrial looking side table
Another project I’m adding to the DIY categorie is a cool industrial looking piece of upcycle design furniture. It’s a DIY project showing how to create a Crate & Pipe Side Table. The project and tutorial are by Bre Bertolini, a graphic designer living in Erie, PA | United States and founder of very creative blog brepusposed.
This DIY was part of a larger project where several creative people all had a go at upcycling a wooden crate. To Bre it was obvious that she wanted to create a piece of furniture. But there was one very important rule, it shouldn’t be expensive. So several ideas past until she came up with the idea to create an industrial side table using copper pipes. After a first trial and error she knew how to create a frame for the final design. The crate she used got a small make-over so that it would have a warm and used look.

Bre made a handy and clear tutorial in case you want to try it yourself. In the tutorial you’ll find a description, photos, a list of materials and measurements. This industrial side table is made by using a new crate, but it shows an inspiring idea what one can do with any kind of discarded crate.
