In this digital age where more and more information is digitalized, all this information/data has to be stored. It used to be stored on CD. But in this fast changing world data is finding its way to external hard disks and recently the cloud. So here we are, stuck with this pile of CDs. And there’s where YEAYEA, a design studio in Leipzig Germany, shows a great idea for sustainable reuse of the CD’s. The pendant is called ‘DATA” and is a nice piece of modern design that shows the aesthetics of the material in a new context.

According to YEAYEA: ‘The crushed CDs combine to form a precious iridescent surface, which develops a nice, Golden lighting effect in the form of a lamp shade’. Upcycle design pieces are mostly one of a kind objects. Every DATA pendant has a different surface and therefore a different lighting effect.
