Upcycled Wall Lamps out of kitchenware by Lampified – upcycleDZINE
On this day before the weekend I came across some very friendly and simple upcycle design lighting. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, upcycle design doesn’t have to be difficult and serious. I like it best when it’s fun or very ingenious. And the design you’re seeing here is fun and clever resulting in an added value to a discarded item.

From dull kitchenware to stunning lamps

When I saw these ‘Upcycled Wall Lamps‘, being a lighting enthousiast I was mesmerized by the light and shadows produced. The lamps are designed by Lampified, an Etsy store founded by Grace Fitzpatrick, based in New Haven | United States. She took a good look at some plastic kitchenware and had a great idea what to do with them.

For these lamps she upcycled stuff like vintage plastic baskets, a lettuce spinner, a salvaged picnic plate and two salvaged plastic fried food baskets. They all have in common that they, in combination with the right lightbulb, produce a stunning and dramatic array of light and shadow onto the wall.
Fitzpatrick: “I turn classic, retro, and vintage found objects into lamps. These once-dusty gems have been spiffed up and re-purposed as unique lamps that will add bright spots of interest, and a hint of nostalgia, to your life.”

It really once again amazes me to see how a few tweaks to a discarded simple everyday product can revamp it into a great object. This is what makes upcycle design so attractive and interesting.
Have a nice weekend and have a look at things you want to throw away. Maybe you’ll have a great idea for your own upcycle design piece!
