StudioLamp: Vinyl Record lamp by Sandman – upcycleDZINE
It’s music time again. Time to put vinyl records in the spotlight. These records are in a way the same as books. Due to the digital age vinyl gets hardly used, just like more and more people start to read ebooks instead of good old paper ones. Since a few years there’s a small increase in the number of vinyl records used, but it’s nothing compared to the days before the CD.
So there’re many people bringing their old records to thrift-shops and fairs. What else can one do with these old records? Here are some ideas that have been featured at upcycleDZINE: Stardust, Vinyl Records Lamp, Vinyl Eyewear, RE_VINYL Clock and Relight My Fire.
And looking at these products you notice how different the designs are, although they used the same object as source. And this ‘StudioLamp‘ is no exception.

Tweaked vinyl record makes great lamp

The design is by Sandman, founded by Markus Schaefer, an upcycle designer based in Stuttgart | Germany. He has been featured before here at upcycleDZINE with his beautiful chair called Easy Rider and recently the Chest Sofa.

Like I’ve said before, he shows a real feel for craftsmanship in the way he designs and produces the finished product. StudioLamp is a fantastic and fun piece of upcycle lighting design. It shows what can be done with a relatively small tweak to a vinyl record mounted on a tripod. I’m sure this lamp would do great in a lot of interiors.
