On this Monday It’s time to show another pallet wood idea. As you might know, upcycle designers and used pallets are great ‘friends’. Two of the latest additions to upcycleDZINE are ProduktWerft and Re-Stacked Lounger. Just a few examples to show you what can be done.

Pallet wood turns into stunning cradle

I’ve seen lamps, tables and beds made from pallets. But I’ve never seen a cradle. Until last week when I came across this very friendly looking ‘Moon Cradle‘. It’s an upcycle piece designed by Creme Anglaise, founded by Emilie Perez and situated in the South of France. “Cradle Moon is specially designed to provide softness, comfort and poetry in the early days of our babies.” It is handmade from discarded pallet wood. Each plate was machined and sanded one by one, then glazed with a high protection sealer to children’s toy standards (EN71-3) for very soft finishes, touch, and sound.
Emilie: “For the record, I drew the cradle to the announcement of the birth of our little girl, and I wanted a very soft and poetic atmosphere in the continuity of our royal bird rocking.” Her husband Jocelyn Costis, cabinetmaker, has used his craftsmanship to make this beautiful project.
The Moon Cradle measurements: 117cm x 117 cm, depth 48 cm and weight 27 kilos.

One thing that has to be mentioned with all post regarding upcycled discarded pallet wood is that one has to be careful. On a side called earth911.com is an article about the question: are pallets safe for reuse projects? According to Candice Miller, a horticulture educator and expert from the University of Illinois Extension: “You have to consider where [the pallet] came from, what’s been shipped on it and what you’re going to use it for.”
One thing I know is that you can trust Creme Anglaise’s products. Each product is created with lots and lots of specially care for a baby.
