After a lot, and I mean a lot, of trial and error I’m very glad to show you another finished upcycle design lampshade. This new design is called ‘MilkTurban‘. It’s number twelve in a series of lampshades made out of plastic milk containers.
Like many of you know by now these plastic milk containers are cut into three parts, bottom, middle and top. MilkTurban is made from the middle part of containers. This smaller and in a way cute lampshade is a construction of woven and overlapping parts. A bit like MilkChain where I started weaving the plastic parts.
Again I tried to make a design that shouldn’t reveal it’s origin. It’s always nice to see people’s reaction when you tell them the lampshade was made out of plastic milk containers.
Plastic milk container parts woven into turban
MilkTurban has a woven and interlocked structure. This lampshade is 32 cm. in diameter and is designed for use in combination with a pendant or floor lamp. The structure shows it’s real beauty when the light is on. Then you see all different segments and transparent layers that gives the design more depth. The layered and transparent lampshade shows a warm and friendly character. These segments are made by connecting strips cut out from the middle section of milk containers.

Stay tuned because I’ve still got some new ideas for making other lampshades out of plastic milk containers.
