Lighting is my favorite up cycle design category. I ‘m fascinated by the designs, used materials or objects and the light and shadows it produces. For instance take a look at the difference in light when using different transparencies.
And the most transparent material is glass. Glass can produce a very clear but also romantic light. There is loads of upcycled glass lighting design to be found on the web, but mostly Jars and bottles.
Lantern shape made out of beer bottles and plate
The lighting design you see here is all about glass and bottles. The ‘Beer Bottles Pendant Light‘ is by ZAL Creations [Fb], an Etsy store based in Chicago | United States. This pendant light uses six discarded 12 oz beer bottles loosely attached to a round old glass plate.
The design is so very simple, but I think that simplicity is just charming. The way the plate hovers above the up-side-down bottles is like the top of a lantern.
