There have been some fantastic upcycled metal barrels here on upcycleDZINE, like BARREL by Francesca Cutini and Upcycled oil drums by Indusigns. And today I want to add another one.
Hours of manual cutting metal barrels
It’s a collection of upcycled metal barrels by Dentelles & Bidons, founded by Anne and Philippe Guilbaud and based near Vence | France. All pieces are hand carved to transform them into useful and stunning furniture.
The collection is formed by seats, tables, lanterns, bars and columns. Each of their projects is subject of a very precise work comprised of dosens of hours of manual cutting, resulting in artwork that resembles lace.

“The first idea was to combine the useful and aesthetic, and put our knowledge and expertise to good use for giving a new and colored life to set aside materials, useful and esthetic. The base of the concept is quite easy to understand: give a new life and a new aspect to the metal, cutting it manually, folding it and transforming it completely to give it a totally new use.”
Looking closely at this upcycle design you wouldn’t think these objects were originally metal barrels.
