Moveo. Via: Pallet furniture done differently by radium – upcycleDZINE
Lately many people seem to upcycle used [and new] pallets. There are some great examples to be found of pallet furniture and lighting. On my visit to the IMM 2014 fair in Cologne I was very glad to see a design company that did do something completely different with pallets.
I came across upcycle design by reditum, a company founded in 2011 by Marc Rexroth in Cologne | Germany. Reditum comes from Latin and means the return.

Upcycled pallet furniture as a modular system

The design is called ‘Moveo. Via‘ and is a modular system. The three materials used are all recycled. Pallets, just used ones or twice, metal strips and inner tubes from bicycles. These materials combined result in handmade and solid upcycle furniture.

On completion every Moveo. is signed with the fingerprint of its craftsmen and the year of manufacture. Assembly is very easy and is done without any need of tools. The design is available in 10 different sizes.
Reditum shows that used doesn’t mean materials belong to the scrap heap. “There are selected materials, although they have ended their strict use, that are still very valuable for recovery. The traces they show tell of experiences of a past and produce design with a certain extra.”

Reditum: “Sustainability means not only ecology. At least as important is team thinking and a social added value. Therefore, all furniture by reditum made by hand in social workshops. So people are supported that are capable of greatness but does not fit into the picture of company efficiency.”
The Moveo. series shows that design can be sustainable, functional and stylish.
