Here’s another fine upcycle design by Conant Metal & Light, the ‘Frederics Whirl Wind Floor Lamp’. It just shows my weakness for upcycle lighting and especially vintage design. A beautiful and nostalgic vintage hairdryer turned floor lamp. A few weeks ago I also showed a design by Conant Metal & Light. It was that incredible Ice Block Pendant.
Floor lamp shows heritage
This design shows how many states of the art certain objects were in the ‘old days’. Just look at all the details, shapes, and lines in the design together with the materials that were used. It’s no wonder that objects like this can stand the test of time. Thanks to people that upcycle these vintage design objects, these objects get a second life. And that’s so important because they are a part of history and have a cultural/industrial heritage that would otherwise end up in landfills. In the future, nobody would know how these vintage objects looked like and what they were all about. And that would be a terrible shame.
