When you dive into the upcycle design world, you start to notice all the things that are thrown away. Most of the people don’t think and don’t care about what they toss away everyday. But luckily more and more people become eco friendly and appreciate the upcycle design wave that is getting stronger.
And talking about items that are thrown away, what about the plastic stick/spoon used for your coffee or thee? A typical item that is discarded by thousands everyday. I guess you never thought you could make a stunning lampshade out of those little sticks. Well a design studio called ‘Studio Verissimo‘ designed ‘Spoon Lamp‘. The objective was with this waste to create a product line, spoon collection. The collection consists of a lamp and a few tables.

Studio Veríssimo results from the collaboration of Cláudio Cardoso and Telma Veríssimo. Both young and up comming artists from Portugal with an international career with works shown in countries like Italy, USA, Japan and The Netherlands. Claudio and Telma want to make people happy with their designs. And I think they succeeded. I really like the architectural web formed by the spoons.

This reminds me of my own work I made some 10 years ago:

It was made out of white plastic coffeespoons. Some people told me to make a lamp out of it back then.
