Yes, another upcycle skateboard design. And again a chair. Just for those who haven’t seen the posts regarding upcycled skateboards, take a look here: Art of Board, Skateback, Skateboard Sconce Lamp, Deckstool and recently Skateboard Sunglasses. Like I said before, I really do like skateboards. The material, the shape and the graphics are unique.
Hand painted skateboard chair
This time a post about the TRE by Sitflip, founded in 2010 by Jörg Volgger. A young architect and designer currently based in Vienna – Austria. His design projects revolve around ideas like mobility, DIY and using materials and concepts for other purposes than they were originally intended for. Jörg Volgger, who owns a lot of used skateboards thought about combining two of his passions, skateboarding and design. And this idea let to Tre, a light and mobile chair:
Jörg Volgger:
“As mobility was one of the primary objectives of the design, the construction is kept to the bare minimum.”
The seating of the chair is an integral part of the load-bearing structure. Just two supplementary tension rods are required for taking up the emerging drag forces. This makes it light, strong and easy to setup.”
The Tre version in the top image of this post is designed and hand painted by Boicut. Boicut is an illustrator, artist and graphic designer based in Vienna/Austria. He loves to do illustrations on all kinds of material. So to design something for a skateboard chair was exactly in his line of work. His playful and very detailed illustrations always have a three-dimensional design. And this time he was able to combine an object with his design. The Tre, Artist Series #004 – Boicut, is a real collectors item!
