This blog’s main goal is to show what upcycle design is all about. upcycleDZINE wants to be the best resource for finding incredible designers that upcycle objects that normally would have been thrown away. At the beginning of 2018 there are almost 700 designs to be found on this blog.
I’ve said it several times before, finding new unique upcycle design is to me like getting a present. But finding a design made out of an upcycled object that hasn’t been featured yet on upcycleDZINE is like finding a treasure. It always amazes me to see what objects or materials are upcycled into incredible design. And often the design is quite simple, minimalist, which brings me to the expression ‘less is more’.
License plate turned into minimalist lighting
And in that minimalist category we can find today’s featured creation called Plate Lamp. The design is by Studio Regev, a creative studio and workshop founded by industrial designer Eyal Regev and based in Givat Brenner | Israel. This upcycle studio also created a stunning minimalist piece called MalKot Lamp made out of upcycled beach racquets.
The studio combines industrial design, design and manufacturing with readymade objects and is specialized in designing very original furniture, lighting, and objects.
Plate Lamp is a cool and minimalist upcycle design lighting piece made out of a car license plate. The original design made use of an old license plate and therefore is pure upcycling.
Eyal Regev also started making a customisable version of this lamp by using new plates which makes Plate Lamp a perfect and original gift. The lamp can be ordered with the number combination of a special date like a birthday, New Year or anniversary.
Regev is a disciple of the ‘Ready Made’ design art style and practices the restoration and renovation of used objects with a modern vintage twist. The designs are unique, modern and always carry an aesthetic statement. The studio provides custom tailored designs and cooperates with both designers and architects.
