Lovely Legs Table Lamp: upcycled chair parts by Furniture Magpies – upcycleDZINE
Furniture parts is a type of objects that is perfect for upcycling. And furniture is often discarded so there’s more than enough objects/materials to use for upcycle ideas. But looking at more than 500 upcycle design pieces here on upcycleDZINE, I don’t see that many designers using furniture parts.
Fortunately there are a few creatives that show us what can be done. Have a look at 3rd Gen Modular Furniture, Both Matters and Eking It Out. Just a few amazing examples of upcycled furniture parts. There’s one I left out because this company is featured today.

Chair parts become very interesting

I’m talking about creative company Furniture Magpies founded by Nessa Doran O’Reilly and launched at London Design Festival in 2010. Nessa is, according to herself, a passionate designer, maker, upcycler and horder of all things furniture.

Today’s fun and original lamp is called Lovely Legs Table Lamp and shows another and incredible simple way to upcycle furniture parts. Each Lovely Legs table lamp is made with discarded Windsor chair legs. The version with the hand woven lampshade is available in a range of colours.

Nessa Doran O’Reilly:

“Our work strives to retain the character and story of the furniture we use, allowing the user an insight into their items original identity.”

Furniture Magpies does not believe in throwing good furniture away when it can be redesigned and upcycled into an object that people can love all over again. And that’s a good thing because otherwise we wouldn’t have known that chair legs could be so interesting.
