Lots of people own a motorcycle. Two of my brothers in law, a couple of friends and my neighbours all have a motorcycle. One of them owns two Ducaties and two original vintage Vespas. The Vespas are a real eyecatcher, but that’s another story. I don’t ride or own a motorcycle but I do love the way they look and sound. So I was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled upon the lamp that is shown in this post. Never thought you could make a stylish looking lamp out of motorcycle parts. And that’s what Classified Moto does, a tiny workshop in Richmond, Virginia (USA) that specializes in affordable alt-moto customs and random creative expressions.
One of these creative expressions is lighting design, and like you can imagine it’s upcycle design! They take recycled Japanese motorcycle bits from the 70’s and 80’s, and built these sturdy floor lamps. This floor lamp design uses a brake rotor and transmission gear as the base and a spring and shock at the top. In between are two brushed chrome fork tubes that thread together to make it stand tall.
Classified Moto: “As with all our upcycled moto gear, these lamps have dings, dents, and scratches here and there, but we take great care to clean them up and give them that classic Classified finish, just like our bikes.”
