CROCO Lamp: upcycled jumper clamp by Monsieur Kacha – upcycleDZINE
upcycleDZINE is all about upcycle design. This blog/website wants to show you unique and original design made by upcycling discarded or old objects and/or materials. Always on the look out for more fun stuff that will inspire. And like I’ve said before, I’am always glad when I can show you upcycle design made out of an object that hasn’t been featured on upcycleDZINE before. Every time it seems that there are still enough inspiring objects out there for designers to create cool upcycle design.

Jumper clamp suggests transmitting power

Creating upcycle design is one thing, but giving a second life to an old object and showing its origin in a completely new way and function, is another thing. And that’s the case looking at today’s featured lighting design. It’s a desk lamp called ‘CROCO‘ by Belgian design company Monsieur Kacha, based in Brussels and founded by Thibaut Theunissen. He’s a trained engineer who has followed his passion for creation and is now fully dedicated to design.

Croco is made out of a discarded car battery jumper clamp. The concept behind this design is that it suggests that electrical power associated with this clamp is directly transmitted to a 125 mm. diameter vintage light bulb.

Thibaut Theunissen:

“Mr. Kacha is the stage name given to me when I was 4 years old. I like to remember that time that offered fun and creative objects. I work with simple and graphic lines, raw materials, diversions and customization, always trying to make you smile.”

Croco is available in 7 different colors and is equipped with a controller for adjusting the light intensity. The clamp colors are given in a professional paint shop nearby Monsieur Kacha’s workshop in Brussels where the desk lamp is mounted.
Another great example of upcycle design that makes you smile. I did!
