Here on upcycleDZINE you can find all sorts of upcycle design lighting. Lamps made out of car parts and other fantastic lighting design made out of bicycle parts. And now I came across a very, very impressive lamp made out of upcycled bearing parts.
Bearing parts turn into precise construction
The floor lamp is called ‘The Green Land-Turn’ and is designed and hand fabricated by artist Ray Salas.
Ray: “The Green Land-Turn is constructed from upcycled steel bearing parts, right angle drive is actuated via a hand turned maple handle, stainless steel tubing and rod, steel pipe sections painted with clear on the outside and a candy green clear on the inside and brass hardware. This functional sculpture features a vintage industrial spot light housing that has been treated to quite a bit of TLC and finished off with a hi quality House of Kolor Candy Green that allows one to see the beautiful cast aluminum texture.”
A very nice feature and function is that this stunning lamp is fully adjustable. You can adjusts the angle of the the light housing by turning the maple handle. You can also adjust the angle of the arm that holds the lamp housing. This is done by turning the tube with the three bearing balls. “The combination of these two controls allows it to go from reading lamp to ceiling wash and anything in between. Finally, the piece sits atop 3 casters for easy placement.”
The lamp is a real eye-catcher with all those fine details and its incredible precise construction. I’m always amazed that one can think of a construction like this. The dimensions of the lamp are also impressive, 76x152x152 cm [LxWxH].
