Those of you who are regular upcycleDZINE visitors know that there are many different objects used for creating upcycle design. Different materials, vintage objects or everyday day objects that we usually throw away like the plastic milk containers I use for upcycling.
But what if you would upcycle an object that we use to actually throw away stuff in? And what could you create? Well the object is an old garbage container and it’s turned into furniture.
Garbage containers rescued from being garbage
When I saw this design it instantly had me smiling. Yes, the fantastic fun-factor design needs. It’s so great to see upcycle design that’s made out of an object that has a history of containing garbage and is now rescued from ending up as garbage. And in this case the beautiful vintage metal version, not the plastic bins you see these days.
Czech studio Design Fabrika, run by a young team, designed a furniture collection called ‘B!NS‘ out of old metal garbage containers, bins. They used the raw beauty and slender shape of the garbage container and added some functional details and fresh colors. By doing this Design Fabrika created a collection of amazing industrial style furniture. The collection contains a chair, ice-bucket, stool, washstand, footrest, dressing table and a draft version for a glass of cold beer.

Design Fabrika did a fantastic job by upcycling these almost forgotten bins by maintaining their character and creating real eye-catchers.
