MilkClover1: upcycled milk containers lamp by Gilbert de Rooij – upcycleDZINE
It has been a while since my latest upcycle lighting design MilkLantern. Again this design is made by using plastic milk containers. And just like the last time it’s a small lamp. Like a few previous lampshades, this one is also shaped like a flower/plant.

Plastic container turned into flower-like little lamp

The design is called MilkClover1 and is like I said a small flower/plant shaped lamp. For this upcycle design I used the middle part of plastic milk containers. Just by bending a plastic strip and connecting the ends, a very friendly and interesting shape was created. This lamp is made up out of connecting three such parts.

When I looked at the result it made me think of a clover. That’s where the name is derived from. The number 1 is, well you may have guessed it, the first design in a possible small series using the same basic parts. Because when I created the small bended part, I immediately saw possibilities for a bigger and maybe even much bigger lampshade. The lampstand in the photo is made from discarded pallet wood and was used for the interior fair Woonbeurs where upcycleDZINE exhibited in 2014.

Well, as I always say, stay tuned because there are still some new ideas I’ve got for making other lamps and lampshades out of discarded objects.
If you like this design you should visit ‘My upcycle design‘ for more upcycle design made by me. And for those of you who are interested in the painting, please take a look at the section called ‘My paintings‘ and let me know what you think.
