On this Monday it’s back to basics. It’s all about pure and simple. After Fridays refined upcycle design Spoon Lamp it’s time for a honest and robust piece of design. The main object here is a wood beam like in the Salami Chair by Luca Bornoffi

Honest design made out of a wood beam

The upcycle design lamp you’re seeing is called Wood Beam Light Fixture and is by Rte. 5 Reclamation. A shop on Etsy founded by Joanne and Jonathan Burnett in Salem, Oregon | United States.

This reclaimed Wood Beam Light Fixture has a beautiful weathered grey patina and comes with two lengths of rusted chain for hanging. The LED lamps with extremely low power consumption still provide an abundant amount of light. “This light fixture would be a great addition over your counter, dinning table, pool table, bar or work area. This is a natural wood product which comes with variation in color, grain and checking of wood.”

“Rte. 5 Reclamation is a collaborative venture with my husband Jonathan, an accomplished woodworker. We were both raised in families that valued reclaiming and repurposing. The concept of ‘waste not, want not’ was a deeply instilled value, which has served us well. In 2005 we retuned to the site of my childhood home (Rural Route 5) where we continue to live out our deeply instilled values. At this time our shop is focusing on vintage and handcrafted items from reclaimed wood.”

It’s always nice to see design made out of old reclaimed wood because it shows so much character, honesty and nature. And in this case combined with rusty chains and nice modern lighting makes it a enjoyable piece of upcycle design lighting.
